Being a mom is fun, crazy, rewarding, and chaotic all rolled up into one. Setting a routine and having a schedule can help the crazy feel a little more controlled.
While you might not be ready to make a full-on schedule you can start by implementing some simple daily habits.
In order to get things done and not live in chaos all the time you have to have a plan and daily habits are the way to start that plan. These habits can help you take control of your life and help you become the best version of yourself you can be.
So let’s get rid of old bad habits and start adding in some of these new good habits.

Daily Habits to add into your life
Drink enough water
Let’s start with the basics. You need to drink enough water in order for your body to function at its best. If you aren’t at your best then your days are going to be the best they can be. Most people recommend drinking half your body weight in ounces of water a day. You do the research and figure out how much water you should be drinking and then make it a goal to drink that much each day.
Wake up before your kids
This one is hard! Sleep is a valuable commodity as a mom so why would you give up extra sleep to wake up before you kids? Let me tell you why. Waking up before your kids makes sure you wake up on the right side of the bed and you get some alone time before the kids wake up and the chaos ensues. It is so nice to wake up, get dressed, and read or journal before your kids wake up and need you to help them with everything. This is part of self-care for moms. You can’t pour from an empty cup so fill that cup up in the mornings by waking up before your kids.
Get outside
Vitamin D does so much for your mood. Get outside for at least a few minutes a day and you’ll see a difference in your mood. It’s also good for your kids to get outside so it’s a win-win.
Exercise
This doesn’t have to be a full-on hour workout. It could be taking a walk or jog with the kids or it could be a 10-minute yoga session. The point is to get your body moving and your heart rate up a little bit. Exercise has been known to make you feel better and give you more energy. It’s also good for your health and you will thank yourself later on for taking care of your body.
Prepare for the next day
At the end of the day start planning for the next day. This might mean making a to-do list for tomorrow or picking out your clothes for in the morning. This could also mean putting dishes in the dishwasher and straightening up so that you wake up to a clean house and set the right mood for the next day. This is going to help you feel more ready to conquer the day when you wake up in the morning.

Do something for yourself
This is going to be different for everyone and it might change as life goes on. If you love to read then set aside time to read each day. If you love to draw then set aside time for that each day. It may only be 15 minutes but you will feel good knowing you accomplished something you love to do.

Invest in someone else
You’ve invested time in yourself so now it’s time to invest time into someone else. This could just be texting a friend and checking in on them or it could be doing something nice for your spouse. I promise you that you are going to feel better knowing that you thought of someone else that day and that person is going to love you for it.
Eat
This might sound simple but as moms it can be easy to forget to eat sometimes. Everyone needs us and there are 50 things to do and life is crazy. It’s important to eat so that you can have the energy to do all the things you need to do. Eat what makes you feel your best!
Get enough sleep
Everyone’s sleep needs are different so first you need to figure out how much sleep your body needs in order to function at its best. Then figure out what time you need to wake up in the morning and work backward to find what time you need to go to sleep. It can be hard to go to bed early but you will thank yourself in the morning when you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go.

Make a habit tracker
You might be thinking that this isn’t a daily routine but just hear me out. Make a habit tracker of all the things you want to do daily. It could be taking supplements or making the bed but having a list to check off makes it easier for you to remember to do those things.
Make a habit tracker and then make it a daily habit to check off everything on the tracker. It is such a great feeling when you check off all the boxes and I know it’ll help you get everything done each day that you want to.
I’ve created an easy to use habit tracker that is free to download, just click on the graphic below.

Implementing these daily habits into your life might not seem like they would change much but trust me, they will. Creating easy daily habits will help improve your day to day life and help you to be a happier, healthier you.
