8 Must-Have Baby Products

July 5, 2019

There are soooo many baby products out there to choose from. It can easily get overwhelming and super expensive if you don’t know what you really need.

I wanted to share a few of our must haves for baby. There are only a few things on this list but these are seriously the only things that we HAD to have (other than the obvious diapers, wipes, formula, etc.). Babies don’t need a ton of stuff but here are some of our must haves.

1. California baby wash

When we discovered Braelynn had eczema, we needed to switch her body wash. We were trying to use more natural products with her so I researched and found California Baby.

We use the one specifically for eczema but they have regular baby wash also. I almost didn’t buy it because of the price but I’m so glad I did. The bottle has lasted us forever and it has been so gentle on her skin. I highly recommend this, especially if your little has eczema or sensitive skin.

2. Teeth Tamer

This product from Earthley has been a life saver. We don’t use a lot of Tylenol in this house but we needed something to help with teething pain.

We tried a store bought homeopathic remedy but it didn’t seem to help. Then I learned about Earthley from another mom on Facebook. This stuff works so well! We will never not have it in our house.

3. Infant Tummy Relief

When Braelynn was little we use Gripe Water for her upset tummy but now I know that it has some not so great ingredients in it. I wish I would have known about this product (also from Earthley). I’ve heard great testimonials about this product and plan to use it with our next little one (in the distant future lol).

4. Sound Machine

I never really understood the point of a sound machine until I had a baby that wouldn’t sleep because she heard every little noise we made. We bought a simple sound machine from Walmart and it has worked great.

We use the white noise for her but have also used the rain before. Ours also has a projector feature and Braelynn loves it as her night light now that she’s older. I’ve also heard great reviews about this sound machine.

5. Blackout curtains

Once again, I didn’t know how important this was until I had a baby that wouldn’t nap well. We ordered these off Amazon and they have worked great to keep light out. This helps baby realize that it’s time to go to sleep, not time to play. It has worked so well for Braelynn’s nap time.

6. Velcro Swaddles

If I swaddled Braelynn in just a blanket, she would immediately break out of it. We had to use the velcro swaddles and get her in real tight and then she slept so much better. I will never not use velcro swaddles. We had a couple different brands but these were our favorites.

7. Munchkin Changing Pad Liners

These things have been so convenient. You put them on the changing pad and then change baby. This way if baby pees or poops on it you just toss the liner in the washer instead of having to change the entire changing pad cover. It’s so much easier and takes less time and anything that makes life with a newborn more convenient is worth it.

8. Baby Carrier

We use and love our Tula baby carrier. We have the one that grows with you and doesn’t need the newborn insert. It has worked so well for us and we still use it to this day even though Braelynn is 2. I know some people love ring slings or wraps but I’ve never tried them. No matter which carrier or style you choose just make sure you have one because they are a lifesaver when baby just wants to be held all the time.

I was trying to come up with a few more items and have a list of our top 10 but I just couldn’t think of anything else that was a must have for us. I didn’t want to recommend anything that we didn’t absolutely love. The only other thing we use and loved was the Rock N Play but those are recalled now. Anyway I hope this helps out some of you mamas with little babies.

What are some of your favorite baby products? Did you use any of these?
