Reading is super important for children’s development. The more you can expose your child to reading and language the better it is.

Not to mention, most kids love books and looking at pictures. And they’ll love the time that they get to spend with you while reading.

Why is reading important for kids?

First Readers gives a list of “Fifty Top Literacy Statistics” that I would recommend checking out. This article talks about how important it is to expose your child to reading and language and how it affects their development.

Basically reading helps language development. It also helps children make sense of what is around them and helps them learn how to function in this big world that they are now part of.

What if my child won’t sit still?

So as adults we know that it’s important to read to our children but what if our children doesn’t care to sit down and have a book read to them? That’s where enticing picture books come in!

Choose books that have characters or plot lines that will interest your child.

You don’t have to always choose super realistic looking books although there is a time and place for that.
